Placeholder error though none exist

In the accounts list it shows no placeholders. When I try to buy a specific security I get the message "You are attempting to record a transaction on the same date as a Placeholder Transaction." I change the date and it still will not work. I try to purchase a different security in the same account and it works fine. I'm using Quicken 2018 for Windows. What's going on?

    I solved the problem. I used File Operations >> Validate and Repair. The problem disappeared.

    Good Going!  Placeholders can be a royal pain.

    Also if you have not already, go to Edit > Preferences > Investment Transactions and make sure Show hidden transactions is checked. Then at least they will be visible in your Transaction list (register)
