Entering historical cost info

I recently had to reinstall a brokerage account and I lost all the cost data for the securities. Hoe do I reenter the original cost? I have all that info in another file.

    Can you clarify your situation please?  

    "in another file."  Does that possibly mean in another Quicken file, or possibly in another ACCOUNT in this Quicken file?

    "reinstall a brokerage account".  Does this mean you created a new account within your Quicken file ... and that new account has a bunch of Add Shares transactions getting you started?  Or might they be placeholder transactions (Adjust share balance)?

    I had to reinstall a brokerage acct and it only downloaded and entered the current value. I copied the historical data but could not figure out how to enter the basis of each security.
