Why can't I delete a register transaction tag?

I have several register transactions where the tag column displays the word "split". This only occurs when the category column has been "split" . Why is this happening? When I scroll over the tag in the transaction, the category split is displayed. I cannot remove the tag from the transaction

When you enter a split Category transaction the Tag column automatically shows "split" too, whether there's any Tags entered or not. If you have Tagged some or all parts of the split then you have to actually open up the split window - click the green check mark - to make any changes to the Tags.
