Archiving Data

in New to Quicken/Getting Started (Windows)
;) When I Archive, selecting a starting date to begin the current file, it seems to ignore that, but starts with the date of the original: example: old starting date 1/1/2004; I want 1/10/2014 to begin the new file, but it ignores that. (Although the file size is cut in about half - 38000 KB to about 18000 KB). What am I doing wrong?
