Why is my income being count as expenses?

I am trying to use the budget for quicken however my difference is ALWAYS negative. I have done the math myself and the reason it is always negative is that my expected income is being counted as a negative. How does that make any sense?
For example; My budgeted income for next month is, let's say, $2,000, and my expected expenses are $500. What I would expect is for quicken to say, "You now have $1,500 dollars extra!" Aka a positive $1,500. However, MY quicken says it is negative $1,500! So then my budget thinks im under budget by $1,500!
I have checked over and over and over again that the only reason I am negative is because of my income being counted as an expense.

It appears you have your signs backward. If your income was negative and your expenses were also negative (which they should be), then your budget would show you were under by $2,500, not $1,500. However, since it is showing negative $1,500 in your example, your expenses are probably entered as positive.
I don't use the budget feature, so I can't help you with that. Good luck.0
