planning and rollover amounts

I use this feature for my budgeting.  Is there a transactional process for moving rollover amounts between spending categories (e.g. - I have more than I need in Category 1 but not enough in Category 2 so I want to shift money around). I have a vague recollection in past versions of Quicken that there was a transaction you could enter that would move rollover amounts between categories. The only way that I see to do this now is to manually edit the rollover amount for the spending category on the planning tab.

What you are talking about is what is called "envelope budgeting".

Quicken has no support for that.  A couple different workarounds have been suggested (both of which seemed very complicated to me), but the bottom line is it is up to you to do it.

I was referring the the fact that you seemed to have a way to do it with editing the rollovers, but didn't like that Quicken didn't make it easier.  That is actually a new way to do it in comparison to what others have suggested.

I don't know where the old posts on this are (years old), and I never studied the details, way to complicated for me, especially since I'm not interested in it.

One was about using split transactions to transfer amounts between categories.
The other I believe used Savings Goals.
