Recategorizing from an asset to an expense category

Hi, I am building a vacation home and trying to track my expenses. In the beginning I created an asset and coded expenditures to this asset. I would like to reclassify all of these expenditures as expenses instead of an asset because I can run reports across multiple years and see a nice breakdown of expense categories and payees. I went back into the checking account and changed the category from "asset" to an "expense". It changes the category in the register but expense reports do not reflect these amounts. What is the best way to recategorize these expenditures? Thank you, Mike

Customize the report and make sure the categories are selected and the Checking account is included.  And of course the date range has transactions in it.

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.
