sale of cash secured put options

Does the anyone know how to enter and track the sale of cash secured put options in Quicken? I tried "Shrtsell" but this results in a negative balance for the amount of the shares sold, which is not correct. Also, have never been able to enter call or options as a security in quicken. These options have a separate market value that should be tracked. Anyone know how to do this is quicken?

If you sold something you did not own, that is correctly a short sale.Quicken does not understand exchange-traded options (the built-in security type "Option" was created for employee stock options). But you can easily create your own options and still use the Option type.
Why not? It's no different than entering a stock.doogyhad said:have never been able to enter call or options as a security in quicken.Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, as of 2025 using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro & Win11 Pro on 2 PCs.

And the cash that you received from that short sale is what keeps your net worth neutral ... until the price of the Put Option changes (same as the purchase/sale of any other security).Rocket J Squirrel said:If you sold something you did not own, that is correctly a short sale.
