Investment register window changes to two line

Quicken always presents the currently selected investment transaction in two-line mode no matter what you have set for the register. It has always worked that way.

Hi @shyatt60
What you are describing is normal when you select a one-line display for investment accounts. When you click on an entry, Quicken will display both lines and when you first open-up an investment register, the cursor will be at the bottom of the register and display two lines of blank space until you make a new entry.

Has never done this before. I've been using Quicken since 1999. Previously, after entering transactions, all transactions appeared on one line. Now, after entering transactions, the new transactions appear as two lines. Never before.0

Here is what it looks like in single line mode in Quicken 2013.shyatt60 said:Has never done this before. I've been using Quicken since 1999. That's what mine normally looks like. But, lately, after entering new transactions, it's showing as two line mode, until I fix it. Again, only the new transactions appear as two line. All previous entries show as one line.0

If you can include a screenshot, maybe we can see what the confusion is.

Thanks now it makes sense of what you are talking about. I have seen this problem before, it was a "new feature" for sorting, but luckily, they provided and option. That option should have been off by default, but it must have been turned on.shyatt60 said:This is from a test file I created. Doing the same thing
Edit -> Preferences -> Investments -> deselect "Sort same-day transactions by security name".
In reality even in this sorting mode it shouldn't be giving you the blank lines, but this did come up when they put that feature in and made it the one and only default, until people complained. Once they got the option to put it back to sorting by the order entered like it always was before, people just ignored this other mode.Signature:

It is already deselected?0

Hmm. I really thought that was going to be it, it looks just like that old problem with the sorting.
And you have tried it in a new data file...
What is the version of Quicken?Signature:

Well, I would try these in order and see if any of it fixes it:
- Restart computer.
- Install mondo patch from here: https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product
- Try uninstalling Quicken and reinstalling.

Hi again @shyatt60,
Is this brokerage account a "connected account" or are you making manual entries? If connected, what is the brokerage name?

I called Quicken support. They had me reinstall and it fixed it, however, I am not on the latest update. I asked him if I should go ahead and update it and he said I could, but that I might want to wait a couple of days.0

Thanks for your help. Do you think when I finally do update to current version, that it will pop up again or ????0 -

I've actually been using Quicken since the DOS days...wow, long time0 -
I was testing with R44.28 so in theory updating to the latest shouldn't break anything.shyatt60 said:> @Chris_QPW said:

But R44.28 and the couple ones before them were for crashes that no everyone is seeing so you can wait if you like.Signature:

I couldn't wait and updated to the current version, and the problem has returned. I hope it will be fixed in the near future.0

Strange, given it doesn't happen on my machine.shyatt60 said:I couldn't wait and updated to the current version, and the problem has returned. I hope it will be fixed in the near future.
If you like you can try applying one of the older Mondo patch installs to take you back to an older version of Quicken.
You can find them here:

I found where this issue was apparently fixed in release 40.21, but now not fixed. How do I know if Quicken knows this is now an issue again to get them to fix it?0
-
I called Quicken again and the issue has been escalated. Hopefully will be fixed, again, sometime soon.0
