Export report from previously saved file to newer file

Ok, so I just discovered the issues of missing tags on transactions when I went to pull a saved tag report and there was no data to report. Here's my question. If I go back to a file before the R42.8 update it appears everything is good. I'd like to create a report based on that file and use it (export it) to use with my current file (import it). That would make it easier to correct the transactions in the current file rather than using a paper copy and having to scroll through transactions in the current file. Is this possible.
