How to view Investing Performance information using Quicken Deluxe Mac

I am having problems figuring out how to view my investments (ROI, IRR) using Quicken Deluxe. The Quicken instructions that I am reading don't seem to fit my Deluxe version (which is up-to-date). Getting performance information used to be so easy in the earlier versions of the software.

I'm not sure what you are looking at… With Quicken Mac, the Deluxe and Premier subscription levels are nearly alike, so any instructions about investments apply to both Deluxe and Premier.

Have you tried looking at Help > Quicken Help? When the browser page opens, click on Investing in the lower right. It's not a complete user manual like the old days, but there's actually a lot of information in the Help pages. Work your way down the Investing topics on the left side. Specifically for seeing ROI and IRR, you'll want to click on topics like "Viewing your holdings" and "Investing portfolio tab".

Now, the direct answer. πŸ˜€ Viewing your holdings starts with clicking on something in the left sidebar; if can be an individual investment account, or the main Investing heading for all accounts, or the Brokerage or Retirement sub-groups. Then, on the right side of the screen, you can switch between Dashboard, Portfolio and Transaction screens. Portfolio is where you'd go for seeing investment performance, so click that. Under the Portfolio button, you set the "Data as of" date; it defaults to today, but you can set it to the end of last month or last quarter or last year or anytime in the past.

To the right of that, there are three filter menus. To view your holdings, you'd want "Portfolio Value" and "By Security" or, if you' selected multiple accounts in the left sidebar, you might want "By Account". If you selected a single account in the sidebar, there isn't a third filter; if you selected an investing group, there's a third filter where you have the option to drill down to see one or multiple accounts within that group. Underneath the graph is your data. Click on the columns icon in the upper right of the screen to see all the choices you have for columns to show or hide. With the the Portfolio Value filter, you would likely show Price, Shares, Market Value, Cost Basis, Gain/Loss and Gain/Loss in dollars of percent for several pre-defined time periods. You can add and remove the columns you want, and you can re-order them by dragging the columns headings left or right.

Now change the filter from "Portfolio Value" to "Performance". Again click the columns icon, and you'll see that some of the columns available here are the same, but this is where you'll find ROI and IRR over four different time periods (YTD, 1-, 3- and 5-years).

Note that you can print or export any of the Portfolio screens by clicking on the icon which is a circle with β€’β€’β€’ in the upper right.

Hopefully that helps you some. Post back if you still have questions.
