Quicken Home Inventory spontaneously closes rather than open detail view

In Home Inventory, after recent Quicken and Windows updates, when I try to open a detail view for an item, Home Inventory immediately closes. The instructions at

no longer work to resolve this. I have Quicken R51.12, build 27.1.51.12. Any solutions?

    @wpc09 - sometime if you hold the "Shift" or "Ctrl" key down while opening the Home Inventory it opens. But I cannot remember which of the two keys it was.
