How to recover from "Can't modify this transaction, because it has been damaged." error.

Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭
Can’t download, can’t create new transactions. Did a validate, and super validate. NOTHING. Can’t take a backup . Can't report a problem via Quicken because it fails.
Did a reinstall of Quicken, no change.

Why can't you delete the transaction, as the message advises?
Q user since February, 1990. DOS Version 4
Now running Quicken Windows Subscription, Business & Personal
Retired "Certified Information Systems Auditor" & Bank Audit VP0 -
I did delete the old transaction, but Quicken would not allow me to create a new one.

Giving up on this venture.
Hunting through backups and doing a restore. Hope one of them works.
