Splits in transfers not populating both accounts

Sorry if this is thoroughly covered territory. In previous editions of Quicken when I entered a transfer with several splits, I seem to recall that the splits automatically populated both accounts.

Now that seems not to be the case. For example, savings acct transfer $100 to checking with $50 going to Donna (line 1 and $50 to Bill line 2. When I enter it this way, the transfers come across in checking as a single transfer of $100 to Donna. If I add tags (one for Donna and one for Bill, then I get two separate transactions in checking.

Is there no way to simply have the split transaction come across as a split transaction in the target account?

I think it's always been that way. If you have 2 or more split lines transferring to the same account it goes over as 1 line in the other account. As you found you can use a different Tag on them and they should stay separate.

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

Tag! I never thought of that to get the split into the linked account.
