Cannot access my own data file on my pc unless I log in online first?

I have quicken installed on my pc and my data file is stored locally too but the program would not let me access my data file unless I signed in online first? I should never be locked out of my own data. What if I need to access my finances and had no internet connection? What if quicken website goes down? Won't have access to my data on my computer? Ridiculous!

    Try disabling your network adapter(s), this is different that just unplugging or turning off your wifi router. In Windows, you do it in "Advanced network settings".

    I completely admit, this is not a reasonable option, but it should work.
