New asset show up in net worth history

I added an asset, vehicle, and it shows up in net worth for many months. How do I correctly date the addition of the asset?

    Just go into that asset account and change the date of the transaction.

    Why did it have the wrong date on it? How did you add it?

    I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.
