My RRSP account shows 4 millions instead of $60,000

Hi guys,

this is about one of my old RRSP accounts which I did not touch for 12 years (after I've left the company). All entries were manual. I've purchased 7K and company gave me 3k for 5 years. The correct amount was showing for long time, but now it shows 4 millions instead of 60K. All transactions show only correct values. How do I fix that problem??? I've checked my backup quicken files and this started around 8 month ago, but I did not notice, as this is just holding account, I am not adding anything to it for many years.

any ideas, please?

Appreciate your help and thank you for looking into it

Jan

I would guess that an incorrect share price is recorded for one or more of the securities in the account.

    Let's find out!

Go to the problem account and click on Holdings to open the Account overview page. Compare the numbers in the Shares column to your most recent statement. If these are correct, look at the Quote/Price column to see if the share prices are correct or nearly so.

If you find a price that is wildly off, click on the security name to open the Security Detail view, then click on More, then Edit Price history. This will show a list of the share prices that Quicken has on file. Click on the bad price then Edit and enter the correct price. Click on OK then return to the Account Overview to confirm that the prices and account value are now correct.

If this does not fix it for you please post back and let us know what you found.

Thank you very much, Jim!!! Exactly like you've said… for whatever reason the price of the share changed from 11.xx to 500 in the Quote/Price. Now Day Gain/Loss show -4,000,000 in RED!!! LOL

But the account is fixed and I am very thankful for your great advice and help!!!

    Have a great evening, sir!

What kind of change did you make where?
If the Quote Price History for this security showed an incorrect entry for one of the days, correcting it or deleting it should fix the blip on the radar.
Only if you recorded a transaction at the incorrect price and recorded another one to offset the difference a day later will you have an actual gain/loss.
