Quicken Canada White Screen for 10 days. Help!

  • @deibi very happy to hear that you are now able to access Quicken. I have had issues with Quicken that could only be resolved by resetting or restoring Windows.

    @deibi curious, was the office of the president helpful? What/who pointed you to the Windows reset as a potential solution? Is Quicken taking any steps to prevent similar issues from happening for other users?

    Quicken user since Q1999. Currently using QW2017.

    There seem to have been a number of wierd issues caused by recent Windows updates. For example, a recent Windows update affected my system such that whatever window was active when the screen went into lock/saver mode would be reduced to 1024x786 resolution when the screen was unlocked. This was not easy to solve… but I eventually found that others who have had the same problem traced it back to a handful of registry entries. All is working OK again after a number of manul Registry entries. For those unfamiliar with the Registry or unable to locate the solution guidance it could only be fixed by a Windows Reset/Reinstall.

    Not surprised to hear that as the only way that I was eventually able to get from White Screen to full Quicken Screen was to do a full Reinstall on my LapTop but I did the reinstall leaving Data files in situ. On my DeskTop Quicken still does not work.

    mshiggins: As all Support including OOP (level 2 support) at Quicken was singularly useless it was my own recollection of how Windows used to be back in the bad old days which led me to conclude that as the few, not useful, suggestions from Quicken just led me to up the path of fools ie. Doing the same things over and over expecting a different result I'd do a reinstall as that always worked in the past. Of course reinstalling the other apps I need on the Laptop is still ongoing but much preferable to not having Quicken working on both boxes.
