Quicken Classic Transactions mess up
I have three different Chase cards. Each month, when I get my bill, I categorize my transactions for each card under each card separately: e.g., CC0859 was 2,222.22, and I split that up among the various categories. I save the transaction. In a new transaction, CC4323 was 4444.44 and I split that one up. When I save it, it changes CC0859 to the same splits and same total as the one I just saved instead of leaving it as I entered it. In a new transaction, CC1288 was 555.55, and I split that up into a new transaction. And immediately, all THREE transactions are saved to match CC1288. How do I convince Quicken to save each transaction the way I've entered it?

Oh, and in 2024, it worked fine. It's all my 2025 transactions that are screwed up.

Are all of these transactions using the same Payee Name, e.g., "Credit Card Payment"?
If that is the case, do you ever get a prompt from Quicken asking about something like "update past transactions when category changes: Yes/No"?
There's a similarly named setting in Edit / Preferences / Data Entry and Quickfill. This setting should be turned off.- Are you Syncing to Mobile/Web?
AND - do you actually use the Mobile app on your smartphone or the Quicken on the Web browser-based app?
The Sync process has been suspected of a number of weird happenings with Quicken. Could your problem be caused by Sync?
If you answer "yes" to the 1st question and "no" to the 2nd question, turn Sync off completely. You don't need it. The Sync process should only be used in conjunction with the Quicken app for Smartphones or the Quicken on the Web browser app. It cannot be used as a replacement for backing up and restoring your Quicken data file.
If you answer "yes" to both questions, try to Reset Sync so that the current cloud sync file is replaced with a fresh complete copy
If I may suggest …
Instead of having to create a complicated multi-split transaction to record your monthly credit card payments and categorize them, it would be much better and easier if you- created and used a Quicken account register for each of your credit cards.
- recorded each individual credit card purchase into the appropriate credit card account register and categorized as needed.
- set up and used Scheduled Bill Reminders for each credit card's monthly payment transaction as transfer from the checking account. Be sure to use distinct Payee Names, e.g., "ABC Bank VISA 0859", etc.

I don't use Quicken on my phone. Mine is browser based. Where do I find the sync choice? I like your idea if I can figure that out—setting up a register for the cards. I'm 70, and when I was in high school, we still used punch cards for computers…..
Thanks for responding.

If you use the Quicken on the Web browser-based app in addition to the Quicken for Windows program on your PC, your Sync service needs to remain turned on.
In the Quicken for Windows program, for more details please see Edit / Preferences / Mobile & Web and Quicken ID & Cloud Accounts. There also is a tab Mobile & Web with more details. (If the tab is not enabled, see View / Tabs to show to add it to the Tabs menu bar)0
