Slow Loading When Opening Quicken
For some reason Quicken now takes 25 seconds to load the file. This is after entering the password. Quicken is running within Parallels on a Mac mini 4 with 24 GB of memory. I had this setup for over 6 months with no problems. There were updates with Quicken, Windows, Mac and Parallels but I am fairly sure the problem didn't occur with the updates. I haven't changed any settings in Quicken that I am aware of. I am not using Quicken Mobil or Web. I have no Online backup. I don't download transactions.
I tried Validating and Repairing File, restored a backup file, reinstalled Quicken and reinstalled Windows. I haven't Super Validated yet. The same Quicken data file works fine with no delays on a dedicated Windows 11 computer. The source Quicken data file is from Parallels so the dedicated Windows computer file is a copy. When I reinstalled Windows I thought the problem was fixed but when I opened the Quicken file again today it opened with the 25 second delay. I reinstalled Windows 2 weeks ago and never used Quicken after that till today.
The reason I didn't Super Validate is because when I validated the first time it changed the cost basis on several of my investments and it was a pain to correct them although hopefully it should be easier now. The data file is about 9000 KB and there are less than 4 thousand entries. I don't believe the problem is with the data file, read below.
And lastly, I don't know if I can explain this correctly. I can open a Quicken file and it would take 25 seconds to load. I then go to the File menu and open a different file and it would load almost instantly. I can continually do this and the files will open almost instantly. It is like once Quicken is up an running with a data file and opening another data file there is no delay.

Quicken calls home when it first starts to confirm that your subscription is active. It also checks to see if "today" (every 3 or 4 days) is the day that it checks for updates to the program.
Your observation that once started, Quicken changes files quickly indicates that these sorts of things are taking longer.
What happens if you disable your network interfaces. I don't mean just unplugging Ethernet or turning off wifi, but disabling the interfaces so that Quicken won't do anything requiring the internet.
[added] When you run either of the Validate routines, Quickn makes a backup prior to validating and stores it under the Validate folder, so if it did something that you don't like, you can always restore the backup and effectively undo the validate changes.

Thanks for the comments/information. It kinda makes sense what you mentioned about Quicken doing those checks. I guess I will just live with it as being normal instead of wasting any more time on this. Maybe tomorrow it may be normally faster.
I don't know how to disable Quicken from the internet other than just disabling WIFI. I disabled WIFI and the data file didn't load at all. I waited over 2 minutes and it never loaded. I guess this is another clue that Quicken is calling home.
I will remember the next time I Validate a file not to manually correct what I don't like it did. I will restore it instead.
As a note, I wasted a lot of time on this. I guess I should be lucky that I didn't break anything else in the process to try and fix this. I should have realized the possibility of this being normal. I guess I was lucky or unlucky in the previous 6 months that I never ran across this being the 25 seconds I gained in the previous 6 months, I more than lost this time trying to fix it.
