Windows 10 (R 56.9) & Windows 11 (R 63.21)

The file each computer access' is the same one. Naturally the file is accessed by one computer at a time.

The file's begining balance is different on each computer. It was the same before something changed.

In a monthly Register Report, All accounts selected, the Balance differes.

I'm obviously not an accountant and the users don't know enough about accounting themselves. However I'm pretty sure one or more "filters" have been turned on, on one of the computers.

Is there a way to reset all filters or somewhere the filters can be observed and I can then compare between both computers?

Thanks

In either file, have you recently changed the download method into the errant account(s)? Say from Direct Connect to Express Web Connect, or any other change in download method.

That can sometimes cause the opening balance in an account to be changed. The only immediate remedy is to figure out what the Opening Balance transaction should have been and correct it … which be an arduous task.

BUT, once you get it corrected there's a simple action that you can take in that account (and right now in any other accounts that you download into) is to store the CORRECT opening amount in the memo field of the transaction … so that if this happens again you can instantly eyeball the change and know what to change it back to.

BTW, this bug is intermittent, sometimes it happens and sometimes not, which is why Q hasn't yet been able to isolate the cause and permanently fix it.

Thanks for the info, NotACPA. I "resolved" the issue yesterday and now I have a better understanding of where the error occurs and how I "resolved" it. I'll explain better in a subsequent post. Thanks again!
