Make Reconciliation function more intuitive and have better help when its out of balance [Edited]

Quicken classic Premier reconcile function does not work! I download transactions from my checking account to Quicken Classic Premier for Windows so they should match what my bank has but, whenever I reconcile my quicken checking account against my bank balance, they NEVER match. sometimes the difference is a a few cents and sometimes it is several hundred dollars!!!

Also, there doesn't seem to be anyplace to ask about this problem. The AI assistant is absolutely no help!!

    Unfortunately, there is no magic wand that is just going to make reconciling work.

    In fact, that is way there is a reconcile process in the first place. If it was possible to guarantee 100% that all the data is correct there would be no reason to do a reconcile.

    And there are many possible causes for a reconcile to not balance, and statements like "Make it work" are no more effective than saying, "Make the world fair".

    Reconciling by definition is checking your records against those financial institutions, and if there are differences, then tracking down what is wrong, and try to get at the core of what made this difference.

    This is one of the most difficult problems to solve in a forum like this because we can't see any of your data, let alone track down the problem which might be anything from a download problem to human error, to maybe a bug in Quicken.

    Note on the bug area. There is a bug that from time to time will change the Opening Balance (the first transaction in the register), but it usually isn't something that happens for every download/reconcile.
