Updates to classic now require Admin rights to run

When you don't have the rights, the update fails and suggests that you run Qucicken as Admin. This also fails because "Quicken does not support the option 'Run as Administrator".

So, It really would have been nice to know where the patch was downloaded to … instead I had to go to the Quicken Support site, manually download the patch and run that As Administrator.

Please tell me there is a simpler solution.

The patch that is downloaded while inside the program is not available to the user at all.

You found the place to find it :

Just bookmark it for future use. That is how I get every patch release since I have my firewall block the quickenPatch.exe program from going outside my computer. Due to the firewall rule, on the days that Q tries to check for updates, the startup fails, but I know why and I just start Q again. The advantage is, Q can't sneak in past the UAC settings and do an upgrade without my knowledge.

yup that's the address to find the manual download … but why is it necessary to do this after years of updates not requiring it

I've got no idea why you are having this issue requiring admin rights. I don't use Q on a computer that I don't have admin rights, so it has never come up for me.

As stated, I do all of my upgrades with the manually downloaded patch because I want to control when it happens, just not when Q offers it. I also wait a few days to see if there are any gotchyas that will affect the portions of the program that I rely on.
