Cloud Sync messes up Reminders
I've recently noticed that my reminders are getting out of sorts. I almost missed a payment because of this. I thought it was due to a recent update, but have narrowed the cause down to Cloud Sync, which I enabled a couple of weeks ago because I thought it might be useful to see balances on the mobile app.
I am a prolific user of Reminders. I might Edit Instance to change a specific date for an upcoming recurring reminder, or skip a reminder, etc. If I select Mobile & Web from the top menu and then Cloud Sync, I can see how all my local changes to Reminders are lost, overwritten by whatever the Cloud thinks is right.
This should be considered a bug. The local changes are more recent and should supersede whatever is in the cloud.
As a work-around, I'd be fine if the Cloud was a read-only representation of what I last synced from Windows. My PC will always be the source of truth. Is there a way to configure this preference?
Note, I made a couple of searches on the forum, but click the topics that seemed to be related returned an error, "Discussion Not Found // The page you were looking for could not be found"

As far as your problem with messed up reminders due to Sync is concerned … yes, there does appear to be a bug in Sync which will mess up things. And it's been there for a long time.
IMHO, it's best to not use Sync until Quicken can release a fix for this problem, however long this might take.1 -

Seems peculiar to allow these to be returned in searches for users that can't access them. But I'll prioritize that concern behind the Sync one at issue. :)

Noted. Unfortunate that these things can't easily be made to play nice. Reminders are central to my Quicken use case, and I suspect I'm hardly alone on this. Cloud disabled once again. Thanks!

Seconding this as I am having the same issue. I'm trying to delete a recurring reminder and every time I use the "one step sync" it gets readded. This is a huge problem! Any update on a solution?

Plus one on reminder issues.
I have one reminder that, after paying the bill, keeps reappearing with various balances due. Clearing (skipping) it doesn't fix the issue as the reminder reappears after I run an online update of my accounts. In addition, changes to the date or amount of any reminder are also lost after an online update. If I don't update my accounts the issues don't appear. I don't use cloud sync for the mobile app at all but, on checking, found that it was on.
Making matters worse, an account that was closed in 2020 has now appeared with an erroneous balance.
The poor quality of this last update makes me wonder about the vetting process for these updates. A mess like this should never have been made live.
After turning off Mobile & Web, the issues seem to have stopped so I can only guess that the PC app is pulling bad data from the cloud sync and overwriting the reminders. I followed these steps to turn off Mobile & Web:
- Mobile & Web Tab\Add/remove accounts and unselect any accounts that are selected. It may take a while to update.
- On the One Step Update dialog, make sure cloud sync is not selected.
- Mobile & Web Tab\Go to Mobile & Web and turn off sync at the top
If Mobile & Web is already off the options in steps 1 and 2 won't appear.

The last two updates have created havoc with cloud sync and paycheck reminders. Sadly cloud sync takes over 30 minutes and is a drag. My wife and I use the app to load expenses and will have to stop until this is fixed. Paychecks zero out on the reminder and don’t populate in the budget. So used to apple updates working every time that quicken updates are basically seen as a disaster in the making. I have tried signing in as different user approach, resetting cloud data, confirmed no hidden accounts, used a well known backup which ends up getting corrupted immediately. Can’t believe I pay yearly for the hassle

Quicken cloud sync definitely has long-standing problems. I have reported these problems many times using help > report a problem, but the issues persist.
They occur (for me) when syncing a transaction tied to a reminder, that is split among multiple categories (like, income with a split for withholding and/or insurance). You have to choose between syncing to the Quicken cloud, or keeping your data's YE (year end) estimates as you want them. I have found you need to validate your data file before fixing the YE estimate, then it will stay good until you sync a new transaction with category splits.
The only reason to use the cloud sync that I can see is if you want to have your current data available either in Quicken Mobile, or in the web browser version of Quicken. I stopped using Mobile, with regrets, because I got tired of fixing my split transactions every couple weeks.

Same problem here. Very frustrating! Cloud syncing messes up transactions entered into the Edit Income Reminder > Split Transactions window. Using version R64.30.

I, too, have experienced this weird duplicate/repeating reminders occurring after OSU with Cloud Sync. Also, as mentioned above, paychecks have their amounts changed for no apparent reason.
I use Cloud sync so that I can see information in the Quicken App on my iPhone.
