Tax Year - Quicken Repeatedly Asks

When you make a registry entry for paying taxes using a Tax category Quicken will ask you if it is for the prior year, you'll specify which, and then when that transaction clears and you're reviewing downloaded transactions Quicken will ask the exact same question again? Quicken also will do it a third time when you Reconcile the transaction.

Why isn't Quicken storing this Tax Year information the first time when you enter it? It's just annoying to have to answer multiple times.

    Hello @MangoMan,
    Thanks for bringing this up — I completely understand how frustrating it is to be asked the same tax year question multiple times. That kind of repetitive prompt can definitely feel unnecessary, especially when you've already specified the details once.

    I’ve reached out internally to get some clarity on this behavior and whether it’s expected or something we can improve. I'm looking into it further and will follow up with you as soon as I have more information to share.

    Appreciate your patience in the meantime — and thanks again for raising this!

    Thanks Alyssa. It's a medium level annoyance, but as I said, from a software/data perspective it should retain the assignment the first time the question is answered.

    @MangoMan,

    Thank you for your response, and I have an update!

    At the moment, this behavior is working as designed, but you're definitely not alone in finding it less than ideal. The good news is that we do have an open ticket to improve this experience in the future! While there's no ETA yet, your feedback has been noted and passed along to the appropriate team for consideration.

    We appreciate you taking the time to report this—community input like yours plays a key role in helping shape future improvements.

    Thank you!
