Different Withdrawal and Posting Dates on Accounts (Not investment accounts)

I request a check withdrawal from a savings account. When I update Quicken the check has the date they processed my request (e.g. 09/10/2025). Then I receive the check and deposit it in a checking account with a different institution on 09/20/2025. When I update Quicken, it uses 09/10/25 as the withdrawal AND deposit date for both accounts. In the past when I deposited the check Quicken would ask "Is this the same check as (savings account)?" and then, when I answered "Yes", use two different dates, the process date for the savings account (09/10/25) and the deposit date for checking account (09/20/25).

Now it does not ask if the transactions are for the same check; it uses one date only.

Thanks for your help.

Looks to me like that's because the transaction in Quicken is recorded as a single linked transfer transaction from ABC Bank Savings to Category = "[DEF Bank Checking]" and not two separate, unlinked transactions.

May I ask why you're asking for a paper check to be mailed to you instead of initiating a direct electronic transfer of funds from the Savings account's website? This, when processed as ACH transfer thru the US banking system, normally takes no longer than 1 - 3 business days.

What are the categories on both transactions? With 2 different dates it won’t show up as a Transfer but 2 separate transactions.

OR, you could record the w/d transaction to an intermediate account, say "Checks in Transit", and then record the deposit as coming from that intermediate account instead of coming from the actual originating account.

But, as long as it's recorded in Q as a Transfer, it's only going to have a single date.
