Fidelity Issues: AGAIN
The never ending problems with Fidelity accounts have resurfaced with a vengeance.
All OK until today when I had to reauthorize credentials. Afterwards, the balance on my Cash Reserves account went to zero. Tried to create a new account and file; same issues. Oddly this only affects the simplest of the accounts (money market) and NOT the more complex IRA accounts.
Talked to technical support; apparently this has been reported by many customers since the middle of August. No ETA for resolution. And nobody from Quicken will reach out to inform the customers when/if the problem has been resolved.
Ticket # 11958293. Quicken for Mac.
This is unacceptable!

I was forced to update my Fidelity connection after being away for two weeks. Results are incorrect and very confusing.
- I have duplicated fund holdings in my 401k account
- No history for the apparently newly duplicated fund holdings
- The latest sync somehow dropped my most recent withdrawal - so I'm showing a negative cash balance
- The total balance you're showing is not double the amount (which would be expected given that you're duplicating my holding). Nor is it offset by the withdrawal amount. I'm not seeing how you're calculating the balance.
Really disappointed. A quick sweep through the forum tells me this issue's been ongoing for nearly a month. Given that you're tracking multiple issues related to this, your updates are pretty convoluted and difficult to use.
My trust in Quicken is rapidly falling. Need a clear update on this ASAP.
PS: The last time I saw an issue like this, I lost previous history for my 401k transactions and share prices - which make my long-term charts totally wrong.

Hello @pcd,
Thank you for contributing to this thread, and I am sorry you are going through this. I know how frustrating it is to deal with these kinds of issues.
Just to clarify, are you seeing duplicate transactions, or is it only duplicate securities? If it's only duplicate securities, then merging securities should help resolve that part of the issue.
It might also help correct some of the balance discrepancies you're seeing, so I recommend addressing that first.
As for the missing withdrawal, a few things to check that could help us narrow it down:
- Is the transaction pending or posted on the financial institution’s website?
- Could it have been incorrectly matched to another transaction in Quicken?
- What is the posting date, and does that align with your account update window?
These details will help us determine whether the transaction is truly missing or just hasn’t been downloaded yet.
Let me know what you find.

Merging helped correct some of this, but created another problem.
I did the merge, sync'd to update. The feed created a duplicate security for a holding for which the price had changed. So I re-merged, but in the process one of the securities now has 2x the number of shares I hold. Not sure how to correct that. Ideas?

Just to chime in - I am having issues too, and for whatever reason Quicken seems to be adding special "remove shares" entries or "add shares" entries that throw the balance off by 20, 30, even 50%. It's gotten pretty ridiculous.

I'm not blaming the admins here at all, but I want to state I am (and clearly others are) tiring of going on month 3 of Fidelity download issues. Now it seems like 401k contributions are not properly translated to purchases, and transactions are still getting dropped because some transactions have the same cost (like if you have 3 securities you buy with 5% of your contribution, only one makes it through because all 3 cost the same).

Today's ticket is 11964150

Hello @pcd,
Thanks for following up, and I am glad to hear that merging securities helped.
If you are able to see your transactions for that account, check to make sure there are no duplicates. If there are, please delete them. If your transactions tab is greyed out, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the transactions tab again. This should now make them visible.
Thank you for adding to this discussion.
It sounds like you are describing placeholder entries. Quicken adds these when it's missing some information. Here is a Help Article on resolving those. Let me know if this helps.
I appreciate you expressing your thoughts and concerns, and I know this can be frustrating.
Thank you for providing your ticket number for insight. Based solely on the ticket notes, it looks like they determined the issue you were having is the one outlined in this Known Issue. Is that correct?
Looking forward to hearing back from you all.

Known Issue. Is that correct? No, I don't think so. I'm not getting Unidentified security. I'm getting two different things:
- Loan Contributions are marked as "Loan Contribution <Security Name>" and then treated as a cash transaction instead of a purchase from a loan payback. It's not clear if this is supposed to be the cash transaction (and the corresponding Buy is lost) or if this is supposed to be the Buy (and it's getting treated as a cash transaction).
- Some regular payroll contributions are getting tagged simply as "fee 8" (or some random number) with shares purchased, but not associated with a security
Further, because of what I assume is this problem with properly associating the transaction with a security purchase, Quicken appears to be deleting/not importing/dumping transactions with identical purchase amounts. For example, if I am purchasing $40 (for example) of Security A, Security B, and Security C from a contribution of $120, only one of those 3 securities transactions will appear (and they will appear as something weird like "Fee 12" or "loanContribution Security B"). There's no sign of the other two transactions.
And this is part of the frustration. Things are such a mess it's like untangling spaghetti every time there's an import.

I've got two issues:
- Brokerage account shows mutual fund (IVV) and cash, but not money market (FDRXX)
- Charitable giving fund shows transactions, but not holdings
