Update with new credit card number wiped out all 2025 transactions
First, my credit card was closed following a fraud alert from Chase. Understandably, in subsequent updates, Quicken reported it couldn't access that account. Because this happened while I was on vacation, that meant I had about three weeks of un-downloaded transactions.
When I received my replacement card, Chase sent a message that it automatically gave Quicken access for the new credit-card number, because I had previously permitted access for any new accounts. I immediately opened and updated Quicken, and sure enough, it now showed all the transactions I hadn't downloaded for that credit card - both before and after the account number change.
But, when I accepted the transactions, they disappeared!!! And even worse, all the 2025 transactions in that account disappeared as well!
So, I then followed the instructions for directly downloading the missing transactions, by logging into Chase and downloading a Quicken Web Connect file. But, importing that file to Quicken created a separate account containing all my 2025 transactions. To fix that, I copied the transactions from the new register and pasted them into my old one.
DISASTER!!! Doing that wiped out all the pre-2025 transactions!!!
I have a QDF-backup from before this all happened. Should I try reopening Quicken from that?
I'm afraid that all my credit-card data is corrupted now.

The first thing I would do is restore a known-good data file backup to get back to a known position. Perform a Validate and Super Validate on the data file to insure data integrity. Make any recommended corrections and, at this point, backup the data file. Now try to resync your data file with the finacial institution (FI). Typically, the FI will probably recognize the account as a new account and download 90 days, or so,of transactions. Carefully delete any duplicate transactions. This procedure is not elegant as you might have to delete each transaction one-at-a-time, but it should restore your data to current.

It took a couple tries, since my latest backup resulted in the same issues, but an earlier one restored the older transactions in my credit card register.
But, even though Chase transferred everything to the new account number and authorized it for Quicken download, the software didn't recognize that. I had to go through the whole login to Chase and reauthorize again to get the new transactions, and merge the new account with the old.
Nevertheless, the bigger issues remain.
- WHY did Quicken delete the new transactions the first time I accepted them?
- WHY did the program delete all my 2025 transactions?
- AND WHY did pasting the new transactions into the old register destroy all previous transactions?
I would like to have someone from Quicken respond to these very serious bugs.

OK.. great!
Just when I thought I fixed the problem….
Another account.. a checking account from an entirely separate financial institution.
Every single 2025 transaction.. gone! Just the newly downloaded ones are available. And forget restoring from a Quicken Web Connect file. They dont' provide that.
What the hell is going on Quicken?

I noticed something that I think caused my issues….
When I restored Quicken from a backup, I noticed that it switched the cloud backup & sync back on. I had turned that off a long time ago, since I have no desire to upload my financial data to a 3rd party over which I have no control.
What say you Quicken???
