How can I switch from paper statement reconciling on online balance?

I just resubscribed and purchased quicken again for new computer. then I went on vacation for 3 weeks. I just was trying to get all my transaction entered but it went back several years for me. Now, I have messed up my register. I will gladly reconcile to my statement this time because I messed up when putting quicken on my new computer. I would just like to see how I could switch my checking account to reconcile daily to online balance from statement ending balance. I did read it is not recommended to switch BUT this is what I preferred to start and just made a mistake

Thank you in advance for your time and your answeres

There isn’t anything fundamentally wrong between switching between the two methods. The warning comes from making sure you understand that if you have been reconciling to the online balance then you most likely have transactions the are marked reconciled in the middle of the month which will not show up on in the reconcile window.

And I will add an extra caution for what you are describing. When calculating the “Cleared Balance” that Quicken starts with it includes all of the reconciled transactions, even if they are past the ending statement date you enter, and all of the cleared transactions up to the ending statement date you entered. The result is that you can’t reconcile say “last month” if this month has been reconciled (this may or may not apply to your situation)

To switch right click on the account on the Account Bar → Edit/Delete Account → Online Services tab, and on the deselect the “Reconcile to online balance” checkbox → OK. Now start the reconcile again.
