Called bonds remain in Maturity Dates Report

This suggestion has been made previously by others - to no avail. Those of us who buy "callable" bonds no longer want to see those bonds in the "Maturity Dates for Bonds and CDs" Report if a bond is called (redeemed) early by the issuer. This report is useful for tracking upcoming maturity dates but leaving bonds that were redeemed earlier than the call date makes the report inaccurate and confusing.

That issue was added on in this idea discussion.

I'd ask you vote that broader request up also if you have not done so already.

One workaround is to edit the called bond and remove its maturity date.

Fortunately, Fidelity Investments recently rolled out a new Fixed Income analysis tool online that includes all active bonds and CDs. Quicken doesn't care.

@Thirty_Year_User How did you record that bond call in Q?

Because if you record it as "Bonds Sold", wouldn't that remove it from the Maturity report?

@NotACPA Shows up on report if it is recorded as sold or it is recorded as removed

Was this a total call, or partial. I.E., do you still own any of this bond? If Not, how about TOOLS, Security List and checking HIDE to the right of the bond name?

Also, in the Portfolio, click OPTIONS in the upper right corner and make sure that "Show Closed Lots" isn't checked.

@NotACPA The issue here is the Bond Maturity Report. That report:

    • Does not offer a security selection option
    • Does not pay attention to hidden/not hidden status for the security
    • Does not pay attention to whether 'shares' of the bond are currently owned.
    • Does not even offer a date field specification; it always uses 'today'.

The Portfolio view option regarding showing closed lots is not relevant to this report.

The report ONLY seems to pay attention to the Maturity date field for the bonds as compared to 'today'.

@q_lurker Thanks for the update. I don't own bonds directly (only in funds) so I'm surprised by those significant shortcomings in the report.
