credit card co send me a check for credit balance. How do I record that transaction ? on the credit card register and the bank registers

    In the credit card account; "charge" the amount of the check and set the Category to your bank account. That should work.

    Agree with @JimB54 , making a charge to the credit account will "zero" it and using the bank account (in square brackets) as the category will create a matching transfer transaction in the bank account.
