Size of backup file increased dramatically

I am running Quicken Classic Premier on Windows 11, latest version of Quicken R64.30

I back up my Quicken QDF every week. It usually increases by about 50kb weekly. Then suddenly on 10/05 it went from 199,536 KB to 353,700 KB. On 10/12 the backup didn't increase in size even though there were the usual number of transactions. I think there was a release a few days earlier but I'm not sure. This is a concern because I am getting a new computer this week & will need to restore the quicken backup. If it's corrupt I have a real issue. How can I tell if the file is OK? Quicken seems to be running fine. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

When you transition to the new computer, just copy the .QDF file from old to new, don't do a restore of a backup unless you have to.

After running Q on the new computer, make a backup and compare the size, old vs new.

Personally, I have recently gone through all of the software updates and have not seen an increase in backup file size. My .QDF and .QDF-backup are within 5KB of each other.

Now, it could be what you have stored in your data file, mine is pure data, no attachments, no extras, just transactions.

I have exactly the same problem. Long-time Quicken user. Quicken Classic on Windows 11. Validating increases QDF file size from 165MB to 330MB!

    Any solution to this?
