Check register available in background

Considering adding an option to have a small bit of software running in the background, e.g., system tray, that allows one to record new checks without having to open Quicken.

I have a fast computer with lots of RAM, yet opening and closing Quicken is quite slow versus, say, Excel. Therefore, a fast place to record new checks would be a nice addition.

Quicken Mobile & Quicken on the Web offer similar functionality to what this idea is asking for. See Boatnmaniac's post below.

You didn't mention which platform, but Quicken 2007 for Mac had such a "QuickEntry" widget (similar to gadgets in Windows) that allowed this. I found it more novelty than useful.

Considering I never recall many (if any) forum users mention of actively using it, and it was later omitted without so much as a whimper, I don't know how much of a demand there is for similar functionality. Mobile has become the form of QuickEntry for users.

I frankly had forgotten about it until this post.

Isn't this one of the things that Quicken Mobile and Quicken on the Web are designed to do? Manually enter transactions in one of them and then later, when running the desktop Quicken Classic, you can sync it with the desktop data file.
