Merrill Lynch Investment accounts sync duplicates previous entries
After the switch to the new download method for Merrill Lynch Investments, I can successfully download new transactions, but if I've already entered those transactions then I get duplicates. I then have to manually delete each duplicate. All information is identical, so why are they not syncing properly into a single transaction?
Mac Studio running MacOS 26.1 (same problem with prior versions), QMac
Version 8.3.2 (Build 803.58902.100)

Hello @JackPDX,
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Initially, after switching to the new connection method, some duplicates of downloaded transactions could be expected. However, that should be a one-time occurrence, and in your situation, it sounds like you are seeing duplicates of manually entered transactions once those transactions download into Quicken.
If the information is identical on the transactions, they should match. I have some follow-up questions for you.
- How long has this issue been occurring?
- Have you tried restoring a backup from before the issue started?
- Where is your data file located?
- Is your file being synced/backed up by any third-party services like iCloud, OneDrive, or Carbonite?
Looking forward to your response.

HI Alyssa! Yes, this is definitely no just an initial occurrence. It's been happening for weeks, ever since I was told to chang to Quicken Connect (from direct connect) for Merrill Lynch Investments. My data file is located on the desktop and is being synced to iCloud, but that has been the case for many years. This behavior started immediately after the change in connection types.
I should mention that I'm on MacOS 26.1 (although this happened with two prior OS versions).
I could restore an old backup, but that would be from weeks ago and would require quite a bit of effort to get back to my current, fully synced state.0 -
Thank you for following up!
Can I have you exclude your active data file from the iCloud sync? Storing/syncing the data file you use daily on/to a cloud service/external drive can lead to damage to the file. That being said, it is perfectly fine to save backups on a cloud service/external drive. In case anything were to happen, you would have backups in other locations.
Once it has been moved/excluded, tell me if you still see the issue of transactions not matching.
Looking forward to your response!

I would have bet that this wouldn't work, since I've had my active data file being synced to iCloud for literally years without any problem, but I moved it to a non-synced location and it did properly download the transactions. Thanks for your help!
