Investment account to bank account link in MAC version of Quicken

How do you guys move money from an investment account to a bank account. Let's say I sell an investment in brokerage account "A" When I use the sell transaction it then moves proceeds to the cash account within brokerage account "A". I now want to move the cash proceeds to my bank account. I haven't found an easy way. What I'm now doing is creating a misc. expense in brokerage account "A" and then doing a manual entry in my bank account. I know with other accounts I can do a transfer, but I can't seem to accomplish this from a brokerage account to a bank account. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you give it the type of "Payment/Deposit", you can enter the transfer as the category.

Thanks for the tip. I can make that work.

  • Sorry to bother you again on this matter. I migrated from Q-WIN, where the link between bank accounts and investments was seamless. Under the double-entry system, every sale automatically generated a corresponding “cash-in” transfer to the account, and vice versa.

Is there a workaround in Q-MAC to achieve the same way of processing investment transactions?

    Thank you.

No. Quicken Mac doesn't have a way to link a bank account with an investment account the way Quicken Windows can. If you want to track an investment account's cash in a separate banking account you'll have to move the cash back & forth yourself.

@Community_Massimo The (somewhat) good news is that the Quicken Mac developers have signaled that this is a Planned feature on their future development roadmap.

As always, we have no idea when feature requests marked as "Planned" will appear; it could be next month or 1two years from now.
