New to MACOS from Windows: Scheduled Dividend Transactions

My scheduled investment stock dividend transactions didn't convert/import and when attempting to create new ones, "Schedule Selected Transaction" is greyed-out in every investment account register for every imported/previous dividend transaction.

Is this not possible in MACOS?

    It's not possible to schedule investment transactions in Quicken Mac. You can schedule cash payments or deposits into or out of an investment account as a Payment/Deposit transaction - a bill payment or paycheck deposit, for example - but that's all. Any other transaction type will have to be entered by hand (or downloaded after it occurs)

    My use case is stand-alone/manual. I don't download transactions from any of our institutions nor plan to.

    Can I not create my own income categories - dividends, interest, etc - and use those for scheduling and automatic entry? It appears that I can?

    The on,y transactions which can be scheduled in Quicken Mac are banking-type transactions, the ones in checking, credit card, savings, etc. accounts. These transactions also appear in investment accounts when the transaction Type=Payment/Deposit. So yes, you could create your own categories and schedule deposit transactions — but Payment/Deposit transactions are not associated with a security, so you'll be losing all tracking of how your investments are performing. If any of your dividends are reinvested, you'd still need to enter the buy transaction after the transaction to create the dividend payment. I would not want to have all my investments in Quicken but not be able to see how they have performed over time.

    I enter my transactions manually as well. It takes me a bit of time each month (and I do keep meaning to do a test with downloading from my primary brokerage again), but I don't find it unreasonable. If someone has hundreds of securities, it might not be practical, but for many investors, doing it manually is fine.

    I created a scheduled transaction in my brokerage account with the stock name as payee and type "uncategorized". This entered correctly. I then only had to edit it, change the type to 'dividend payment' and then re-enter the payee name (don't know why). Still, this is better than nothing… much quicker to edit than starting from scratch every month.
