Lost 9 years of data with restored backup

Hard to describe what's happened but I am desperate.

Had the latest version of Quicken Classic Premier, just updated to October 2025 version. Updated Wells account successfully but could not get Fidelity to work. So I dutifully did a backup and decided to restart from that backup. The backup is dated 11/6/2025, When I launch that backup, I see my version of Quicken is the Oct 2025 version but my data stops at 2016.

I've lost 9 years worth of data?? What the heck did I do? I can't recreate that.

Any ideas?

Are you sure your register is correctly sorted by Date in ascending order and not filtered to show only selected transactions?

Look at the register's column header ... which column header is highlighted and/or has the little black triangle?
If it's not in the Date column, click the Date column header once to sort the register by Date.

Also, when you opened that backup file it was really restoring it so it should be running as a normal data file. Your backup file should still be intact so you really haven't lost anything. If the register sorting doesn't resolve the issue for you then it simply means we need to figure out the next step to take that would restore your backup file with all data still in it.
