Fidelity FDRXX dividend sign problem
This morning, I saw something a little different on my One Step Update with a Fidelity account that has FDRXX as the core position and no separately linked cash account in Quicken.
The 10/31 dividend of FDRXX was incorrect (Fidelity error) so on 11/5 Fidelity posted a negative $2.59 to correct the earlier error. This caused two problems with the OSU.
- The action was ReinvDiv, instead of Div. This is a well-known problem that has been reported many times.
- The sign was wrong. Quicken entered it as a positive $2.59.
I manually corrected by
- Changing the action to Div.
- Changing the sign to negative.
I apologize if the sign problem is already a known issue. It is the first time for me and I don’t recall seeing it on the many posts I have read. I am on R64.35.

Another way to handle this would have been to delete the downloaded transaction and reduce the original Div by $2.59.

Yes, that would have gotten me the right balance in Quicken, but it is not a good solution for me.
Right now, I have no desire to start modifying numbers in Quicken that will no longer match the transactions at Fidelity. Over the past few months I have often downloaded transactions from Fidelity into Excel and exported transactions from Quicken to Excel. I then can compare and usually locate discrepancies. When the transaction numbers do not match, this becomes much harder. I usually have about 200 transactions at month-end across all of my Fidelity accounts. Then I have a few hundred transactions spread throughout the rest of the month.
I have spent well over 50 hours since August trying to debug EWC+ problems. I have probably done as many Fidelity Excel downloads and Quicken comparisons over that time than I have done over the prior 35 years.

Like you, I don't want to spend extra time correcting changes that Quicken doesn't recognize (though it handled with no problem in the past!). BTW, the problem is happening with other of Fidelity's Money Market funds (FTEXX, for example). It's sad that these threads are being closed…when the problem still exists. Talking with customer service provides no outlet - my only option was to leave my complaint in this forum. Not great customer service! Another BTW, with a bit of effort, I manually change the action for the money market from DIV to DIVX…and the amount is moved to the associated banking account as it has in the past. What is also frustrating is that the downloaded transaction triggers a security comparison mismatch (since to total amount with the exception of the current downloaded transaction is under the banking account).

@EbEn534kEnt - My end of November results with R 65.17 were much improved. I did not need to make any of the manual changes I described above with the end of October transactions. EWC+ is still not perfect, but the large majority of my transactions are now working. I still need to spend more time with each download looking for problems. The biggest issue I am running into is the format of some transactions is different from what I used to see on DC. So some of my memorized payees and renaming rules are not working, and the transactions need manual corrections. I keep fixing them as I see them and I hope the next time I see the same transaction, it will be handled automatically.
