where is my future dated check?
I wrote some checks to be distributed this week. I entered the transactions in the checking account register with their due dates, but they disappeared. I'm presuming they will show up on the future dates, but I expected them to be available in the register, similar to my automatic payments.

Manually entered checks in a checking Account absolutely should not simply "disappear" unless by accident you opened a backup dated prior to those manual entries. Maybe that's what happened here?
If you still have all the information that you previously entered, then I'd say "enter them again." They should be sitting there in the checking Account waiting to be "matched" to subsequent downloads from the bank. Yes, then should show up via downloads even if you haven't entered them manually, but I'm a big advocate of entering "future" information as you're aware of it. At the very least that gives you a "heads up" if there's actually going to be money in the checking account when the checks hit the bank.

Assuming that you are looking at the correct checking account register and not a different one …
What is the setting for the Date Range Filter at the top of the register? Is it as shown below or have you selected a different date range, e.g., "Last 12 months" or other? Are the other Filter settings as shown below?
And is your register correctly sorted by Date, as indicated by the ▲ indicator in the Date column header?0
