Budget When Will it Get an Overhaul on Quicken Mac ?
The entire budgeting module (income & expenses) needs a UI overhaul. It is very dated, hard to read and not very function. I find myself subscribing to other web-based services to do my actual budgeting. I have been a past subscriber to Simplifi. And while I had high hopes for this, the functionality is not there. The best alternative I have found to date is [Removed - 3rd Party Software]. Not perfect by any means, but a strong contender. I am running in parallel to Quicken now. I feel the folks at Quicken could learn a lot by taking a hard look at [Removed - 3rd Party Software]. The strength of [Removed - 3rd Party Software] is you can use it on any platform. The IOS apps for Quicken are terrible.

@mtatge Taking your last point first: Quicken Classic is going to remain desktop based, and platform-specific, for as long as Quicken Classic survives. Quicken Simplifi is the next-generation product which is designed to be cloud-based and platform-independent. I think those lines a pretty clearly drawn and aren't going to change. It sure seems their intent is to continue adding functionality to Simplifi and eventually have the Quicken Classic programs fade into the sunset. (Look at the Quicken home page and I think the writing is on the wall.) but the CEO and others say Quicken classic isn't going away anytime soon, so we take them at their word and move onwards…
Regarding the budget functionality in Quicken Mac, yes, I think a lot of users agree that there are major missing features and pain points in using the current implementation. We can't even generate an actual vs. budget report for the year-to-date as of the end of the past month or quarter! There are at least half a dozen different Idea topics for budget enhancements; a few have been marked as "Planned" and a few remain "Under Consideration". A former Quicken Mac product manager shared several years ago that the budget section of Quicken Mac code was particularly complex, and implementing the changes users have been asking for will require them to significantly re-design an re-write this section of the program. There were indications (surveys, focus groups) that the developers were doing this design work back in the second half of 2024, but something apparently stalled their work and nothing has yet emerged. I hope 2026 will be the year they finally release updates to the budget, but when that might actually happen is anyone's guess.

This is sorely needed. Quicken is an accounting program. Printing a budget should be a no brainer.
