Can't set a category to Schedule E:Utilities

Hi,

I am working on someone else's Quicken file on their computer and when I try and create a Schedule E:Utilities category, it will immediately change it to Schedule C:Utilities. If I pick another one like Schedule E:Travel, it will work fine.

When I open their file on my computer, it has no issues.

What is going on? Any ideas what would cause this behavior?

thanks,

Mike

So, I went and updated the software, and low and behold, it let me create a new category with the proper Schedule E category. That was annoying, but I'm glad an update fixed the issue.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Which Q product, and what BUILD of that product, is on the other computer.

Also, have you checked to see if there's already a HIDDEN category by that name on the other computer?

Try to make sure that the subcategory has a unique name. You cannot have two categories named "Utilities".
In my data file, created many years ago, I have

    • Utilities, Bus - Schedule C:Utilities
    • Utilities (Rental) - Schedule E:Utilities
