I set up my credit cards as "labilities" and now want to edit them so they are correctly shown as credit cards. Possible to make the change after they have had transactions posted to them?

    How did you do that?
Did you set Account Type to "Liability"?
Or did you create an account of Account Type = "Credit Card" and set Account Intent to Liability?

If the account was created with an incorrect Account Type, that cannot be changed on the fly.
You need to create new account registers of the correct Account Type. Once created MOVE all transactions except the old account's Opening Balance to the new account register. Ensure the new account's Opening Balance is correct, as of the desired statement ending balance. Once everything is correct, you can delete the old, now empty, account register.

Go to the Account List (Tools menu)

Select & edit the account to change

    Select the Display Options tab

Account intent can be changed on that tab
