One Step Update Not Completing

Recently, one step update has not been completing, and I have to shut Quicken down via Task Manager. It gets stuck on updating your data..downloading transactions. When I shut it down and reopen Quicken, downloaded transactions appear in the account. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

    Hello @Andrew Jarabak,

    Thank you for sharing your experience and posing this question.

    I have some follow-up questions for you to help determine what could be causing this.

    • How long has this issue been happening?
    • Have you noticed any other strange behaviors other than this?
    • Are you running a VPN, antivirus, and firewall?
      • If so, try temporarily disabling it.
    • Where is your data file located?
      • You can see this by going to File. The first file listed at the bottom of the menu will be the file you are currently in, and the file path will be displayed. That is what we are looking for.
    • Is your file being synced/backed up by any third-party services like OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive?

    One thing you can try is validating your file to see if that will clear this up.

    To do that:

    1. Save a backup.
    2. Go to File.
    3. Select Validate and Repair file… Validate and Repair 2.png
    4. Check the first box for Validate file.
    5. Click Ok.

    Once the validation has completed, it will produce a report of anything it has found/corrected. After this, try running the One Step Update again, and let me know if anything has changed.

    Thank you.

    • How long has this issue been happening?
      • I'm not exactly sure when this started but approximately 1 week ago.
    • Have you noticed any other strange behaviors other than this?
      • No and after the kill the program and look at one-step summary, it looks like it worked successfully.
    • Are you running a VPN, antivirus, and firewall?
      • No
    • Where is your data file located?
      • On my laptop
    • Ran validation and repair and stopped at the same place.

    Thanks for looking into to this.

    I resolved this issue. Allowed the one step update to run for 20+ minutes and it finally went to completion.

    @Andrew Jarabak,

    Thank you for following up with additional information.

    While I am happy to hear the update completed on its own, I am curious to know if since then it is finishing quicker, or if it is taking 20+ minutes every time. The One Step Update shouldn't take longer than a few minutes at most.

    Let me know if you want to continue looking into this.

    Thanks again!

    @Quicken Alyssa

    I ran it a second time and this time it took 13 minutes. It was slightly faster. It spends most of the time executing updating data.
