Downgrading version Q2014 to Q2013 question
I've been running Windows Quicken 2014 for over a decade and was lucky to still run it up to Windows 10 and for some time also on Windows 11 (arm/vm). It was not a pretty scene, but 'doable'. In the past week, all of a sudden, I could not bring Quicken up; it just started for a few seconds and died, no errors - nothing. I suspect that recent Windows updates finally prevented it. I managed to find my previous version 2013, and just for the trial, it got installed just fine and came up without a hitch!! I wondered how this could happen?! However, I got stuck when it prompted me for the backup file (or QDF), which was the one I saved off 2014. I got a message that it is not compatible with this version. I know for a fact that if you upgrade, the program knows how to convert the older version nicely and is ready to go. My question is, is there a way I could get this file to run on my older 2013 version? Any help appreciated.

I found the problem as I was looking at another related thread as to why Q14 wouldn't start on Win11 and it was solved by applying the recent Mondo patch (R10 patch). I reinstalled Q14 and applied the patch and now it's running as it used to be.
Resolved.

@isy you may want to consider what you will do if Q2014 fails again and applying the mondo patch does not fix the issue. One alternative is to upgrade to subscription version, which should be fairly simple. If, however, you want to use Q2013, you will need to have exported QIF files or saved reports to Excel compatible formats from Q2014. Those Q2014 exports could then be used as the basis for populating a Q2013 file.

@mshiggins thanks for your reply and advice. Prior to trying to fix this problem i was looking to upgrade to Q17 or higher BUT when I tried to fire it up (after signing in with Quicken ID) all I received is a blank page!! It seems to be common issue as I googled this problem and downloaded the 'fixes', etc.. I still was not able to get rid of the blank page. Since we're at it, can you direct me to the right page/process there must be something I might have overlooked or done wrong (based on what you were saying it's fairly simple?!).
The main reason I wanted to upgrade a while back is bcz the Fonts display on Win11 was terrible and it was impossible to fix it (withing the 'view' tab). however, yesterday I found out a perfect solution (I found on Quicken FAQ page) by getting into the Qkn Icon → properties → Compatibility tab, etc.. to fix the fonts size to normal display to match my MacPro retina screen resolution. It's all good for now. thanks again.

Q17 is not subscription. The only way to install Q17 on a new computer is to have Q17 working on another computer so you can copy necessary files from the working install to the computer with the new install.
