Creating a new Quicken file. How to download ONLY 2026 transactions when adding a new account?
Background: Longtime user. I'm using a file with hundreds of accounts (many now closed), many dating back to 2011. I think the file is a bit unwieldy and slow. Just recently, my and my husband's Fidelity files have had a significant problem. I believe a confluence of three issues: 1) changing how Quicken deals with SPAXX/FMPXX, 2) a Validation gone wrong, and 3) restoring a backup to try to get to before the problem.
We each have separate Fidelity accounts and we have two Joint accounts. When I restored the backup, I got the CC-800 for all our accounts. I resolved them all EXCEPT Fidelity. I've deactivated all of them. Then I activate download for my accounts and the joint accounts. Then I do the same for my husband's only accounts, ignoring the Joint accounts. During the process, Quicken says it can't see my accounts and it causes the "One of more accounts need attention" on my accounts. I keep going in circles! And if I do my husband's first and mine second, it says it can't see my husband's accounts when I'm downloading mine. Why is it talking about accounts from a different login during the download??
TLDR:
While I'd love to solve the above download problem, I'm thinking perhaps I should just create a new file - it's the beginning of the year. Why not just bring in 2026 transactions and start all over. But when I download our Fidelity accounts, it brings in from 2024 on. Is there any way to restrict how far back the download goes (not just for investment, for all types of accounts).
Anyone else having this problem?

As to your TLDR: question, you can affect the start date for downloads IF the institution downloads via Direct Connect, but Fidelity uses EWC+ and I don't believe you have that option in that case.
The issue of "two User ID/Password combinations at one Financial Institution results in one or the other User ID/Password combo unable to download" keeps coming up. See if this works for you:
Disconnect EVERY Fidelity Account from downloading. Make sure to include any Separate/Hidden/Closed Accounts. As you disconnect each Account go to the General Tab under Account Details and remove both the Financial institution name and the Account Number. Go to Fidelity and disallow sharing of account information with 3rd parties/apps. Close and restart Quicken. Now start the Add Account process specifying Fidelity as the financial institution. Enter the first UserID/Password combination when requested. Ultimately Quicken should come back with every account accessible at Fidelity using that combination. Carefully LINK each Fidelity account with the correct Quicken Account.
When that's done, go through the same process with the other UserID/Password combo.

Thanks. I'll try this today. I partially did this before in that I disconnected EVERY Fidelity account (including Separate/Hidden/Closed accounts), However, I believe I allowed sharing of account information.

Tom,
Thank you! It appears to be resolved. I think the important issue going to the Access Dashboard to remove 3rd party access. It took me awhile to find it on the their website, but once I did, it made sense that that would have been the defining cause of the problem. I couldn't figure out how Quicken knew to refer to my husband's accounts while I was adding my accounts, and vice versa.
I could have saved HOURS of my time by coming here sooner. Thanks again!
