Thank You, Quicken Staff!
Just a quick note of gratitude to the developers and employees at Quicken for making this such a terrific product over the years. I have been a Quicken users from its very first release on DOS back in the early 80's. I have depended upon it ever since for all of my finances: that is decades of use from one software application. I don't think I can say that about any other productivity tool I have used.
And I want to mention that I have most definitely noticed a shift recently in the development of the software (I am on the Windows Quicken Classic Deluxe for desktop version (R65.29 (27.1.65.29)) for the better: more frequent updates to the product, faster bug fixes, better features. THANK YOU for not abandoning this truly useful and honestly irreplaceable piece of software. I am happy to support it!

Wow! A compliment for Quicken. Is this for real? After some of the bellyaching on this site at times, I bet the Quicken staff & management are swooning now in disbelief 😯 Yea, Quicken ain't a bad product; especially considering that the majority of the time I think Quicken fowled up in some manner, it's usually me that screwed up a recapitulation along the way. Who wouldn't thunk that 🧐

Yes I have been a user back in the floppy disc days. I use to keep the various versions stacked up as we progressed over the years. It has been a great product.
I however, like many, are a little frustrated over some of the bugs. The latest is my Merrill Benefits account not handling the par value of my 401k bonds. I am so frustrated with the lack of solution that I am actually considering liquidating the bonds from the account to eliminate the problem. I think that is a faster resolution than a big fix. I have put comments in the community with no reply.

Quicken has been my primary software for over 30 years. I do not believe there is another product that comes close to ALL of the things than Quicken can do. When it is functioning properly, Quicken is a convenient way to see all my financial accounts activity in one place. If last year's inconvenience with Fidelity or any of my other financial institutions were to reappear, I would probably throw in the towel. Is Quicken a necessity for me? No. I also use Fidelity's "Full View" (kind of like the old MINT by Intuit) to give me a snapshot of all my accounts (Fidelity, external banks and credit cards).

Hey @jkalexndr. I'll leave a little reply here for ya'. I don't have 401 K bonds (wished I did though); but do have some Paper I & E bonds, as well as a few Online Bonds. I manage the Paper I & E Bonds at Treasury Direct and a little app they have. Just code in all your I & E Bonds & this app will automatically update all my I & E Paper Bonds for about 6 months in advance. Since I haven't figured a way to transfer (might be one, but I haven't figured that out} the updated monthly totals automatically to Quicken; I just create a new account called "I & E Bonds (Paper)" and manually transfer the 6 months totals individually to Quicken after checking Grand totals on Treasury Direct. Same with Online I Bonds at Treasury Direct. Bit of a convoluted way to transfer, but works for me. Don't know if that would work for you or your 401 K's? BTW, haven't had the pleasure of meeting this 'Mr. Merrill Benefits' guy 🤔 but must be a decent fella' since you know him 😉

Could not agree more! Sure, I have issues at times, but eventually they always get resolved or I figure out a work around. Thanks Quicken team. I realize how dated the primary coding must be and how challenging it is to integrate new features and fixes. You all rock!

I am one of the very satisfied users but with a caveat. Someone commented that Quicken was rock solid up until the past year - well I am still using the solid version of April 2025! Which also means that I can no longer take advantage of features like the tax planner etc etc. I have a test setup that I update to the latest release and every one those releases have destroyed my data file, including a basic test file (messing up the splits, reminders and creating dups). They even broke a simple upgrade with the missing ".msi" popup errors, requiring users to fully uninstall and reinstall - SMH.
I applaud the positivity of this post and will look forward to just one solid release per year, hoping it is not too much to ask, but I am also preparing to stop using Quicken if/when the time comes. Recently I have reduced my participation on this community and stopped offering workarounds and solutions to the users since I just don't see a light in the tunnel!
The moderators here are absolutely a great group of ladies and cut above every other community/forum I have seen. You are the best and one of the reasons I am hanging in - Thank you Mods.

I agree, the Q Dev Team has listened to a few of my suggestions and many others over the years and continue to make improvements and enhancements. It's one of those rare products and services that actually improve the quality of life of their users. Well done dev team!

I agree! I have also been a long time user, since the DOS days, but did not really start using until the ability to download transactions came about - manual entry was/is the pits. Yes, there are occasional issues, but for the most part, there is no other tool like this.

I've been a Quicken and Turbo-tax user since they each became available for Windows, so commitment to the products isn't my problem. I used Quickbooks for my business when I had payroll and benefits to manage, so commitment to Intuit isn't my problem either. However, I've become more distressed following the recent transaction communications protocol/provider change because it was done with Intuit apparently knowing full well that less than 1/2 of the current links would remain functional. Missing links would be addressed, but that has become "as time permits", and we have no view of the scheduled repair dates.
I feel somewhat abandoned by the old guard that made fewer updates, but rarely had a problem afterward. It seems like customer service and reliability have been superseded by profit margin on the list of important things to do. Once I'm through tax season, it will be time to review options.

I am a Quicken user since 1986. There have been some times that I was convinced Quicken was going out of business, but have to agree that during the last year or so there seems to be more and better attention being paid to it. Currently quite happy with Quicken and frankly don't know what I'd do without it.

I have used it since Jan 1998 so have 28 years under the belt now. Lots of ups and downs over these 3 decades. Quicken is great for what it does. A few things inside are still funky but it's quite good for something that costs ca. $100 a year. I would feel lost and rudderless without it, so thanks for keeping it going!!

Windows Quicken user since 1988. I absolutely support this product. And as someone else said, what software package has held its own over 35+ years. Just think for a moment how many users, and how many financial connections work with Quicken. Glad to see that someone has recognized this…

You Don't Have to Have a Point, To Have A Point

I was a fan and have used Quicken for decades. However I currently have a product that doesn't work as well as it did 20+ years ago. Both of my credit cards are not working for downloading data. I've submitted bug reports, and followed threads on this community, etc. One credit card didn't work for me (or others) for 10 months last year and then it worked for a few months, and now again hasn't worked for over 3 months. The other credit card is supposed to be migrating due to acquisition by capital one, and that quicken "reauthorize" process doesn't work, so now I am 0 for 2 on credit cards able to get data download, which is the main reason I use Quicken. So in my case, it is less and worse than it once was.
