IRA balance or reconciliation
Hello fellow QM users,
I have an issue with one of my IRA's being out of balance. And to clarify out of balance - if I open portfolio view on this IRA, the balances for each equity reflect what is shown in Fidelity. If I look at the cash account balance (FDRXX), it is also the same as Fidelity. The issue is the overall balance for that IRA does not equal the balance in Fidelity. i.e., xxxIRA account balance at Fidelity = 100,000. Quicken account balance = 102,000. If I use the adjustment to account balance option, it then throws off the FDRXX balance.
This may or may not be related to a yet unresolved Quicken for Mac issue that had been raised back in Sept 2025 by several users and a confirmed issue by Quicken Alyssa. This issue has totally wiped out the functionality of the reconciliation option and must now conduct adjust account balance entries which only hits the FDRXX entry as the known issue takes the account balance to -0-.
Appreciate in advance any direction others may have.

Hi @Wyodad,
Thank you for reaching out to the Quicken Community and for providing those details. I’m happy to help you work through this.
Before we can determine what’s causing the balance discrepancy in your IRA, I need to gather a few details first.
- You mentioned that your cash balance and each equity match what you see at Fidelity. Do they match exactly, including the full market value (not just rounded figures)? Even a small difference in price or share quantity for one security can cause the total account balance to differ slightly.
- When you do a One Step Update, do the market prices for your securities update correctly?
- How is FDRXX being downloaded into Quicken? Is it appearing as a security (money market fund), as cash, or both? If it’s only appearing one way, please let me know which one.
This information will help determine whether the issue is related to pricing, share balance differences, or how the money market fund is being handled in the account.
I'll look forward to your response!

Laura,
- They match exactly, except for the possible security table translation shown in #3.
- Yes, however see #3
- Upon closer comparison of the account, here might be the issue. I am going to say both. I have a Quicken entry for Fidelity Government Cash Reserves (FDRXX) and also a cash position showing. If I edit the price of the FDRXX to 0.00 the IRA balances to Fidelity. I have edited this security in the past for this same reason, but in looking into the edit security\price history for this, I can see that the price updates to 1.00, which overrides any price edits made to this security to correct this. Do I just need to edit the price for this security each time I conduct an update?
Thank you,

Hi @Wyodad,
Thank you for answering those questions; that really helps in determining the best next step to resolve the issue.
Yes, you can choose whether you’d like to keep the security value displayed or adjust the cash balance instead. Here are the two options:
Option 1: Edit the security price
- Select the affected account.
- Open the Portfolio tab.
- Click on the security price.
- Change the amount to $0.
- Save your changes.
Option 2: Remove the cash balance
- Open the Transactions tab.
- Enter a new transaction as “Payment/Deposit.”
- Enter the appropriate amount needed to adjust the cash balance to $0.
- Save your changes.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I'll be happy to help!

Thank you Laura,
Will continue to edit the FDRXX to 0.00 as Fidelity treats this as the cash balance.
