One Step Update changing dates on bill/income reminders

When I run One Step Update, all of my bill/income reminders are moved forward to the next month. Example: A scheduled bill for cable due 3/22 changes to the next bill due 4/22. Does this for all monthly bills or scheduled paychecks. I have to go in and change all the dates to the current month. What did I do and how do I fix it?

Quicken for Windows 10.

At current version of Quicken (updated today 3/2/26)

Has been happening for about 5 months, possibly after running a backup, but not sure.

It's hard to know what might have happened to cause the issue you are seeing. It could have been one of any number of things.

I think the first thing I would do it to select the next instance of one of the errant Reminders. Right click on that one and select Edit this instance and all future instances. Toward the top of the edit popup there is a field for the Next due on…enter the correct next date in that field….then click on Done. For example, if the date shown there is 4/22 then you should change it to 3/22. Repeat this process for each "broken" Reminder. That usually resolves the issue going forward.

Sometimes it does not fix the issue because of some corruption with the Reminder. In that case, perhaps the best solution is to simply delete the entire Reminder and then set it up from scratch, again.

Have you tried either of these things? If so, what was the result?

Thats how I fix them. I have not tried to delete and set up the reminder, but its almost all of them that are affected.

@cjcnomor4 having pending transactions enabled has been reported to cause reminders to skip their next occurrence. Apparently the pending transaction is seen as a match to the next occurrence of a reminder, triggering the reminder occurrence to be skipped. You can try temporarily disabling pending transactions to see if the reminder skipping stops.

I've had some Reminders skipped about a month ago. In my case, it seems it was Reminders that were scheduled to be automatically entered into the register more than 28 days prior to the due date. Changing those Reminders to be automatically entered 28 days or less along with resetting the next due date for the Reminders permanently resolved the skipped Reminder issue for me.

Since this issue occurred between the end of Jan and early Feb I am thinking that perhaps Quicken was having difficulty with Feb being a 28 day month instead of 30-31 days. I've seen that happen in the past when I'd set Reminders to be automatically entered 31 days prior to the due date. When I changed them to 30 days prior the issue back then when away. Again, it seemed like Quicken was having difficulty with 31 days in the Reminder when the month had only 30 days in it.

BTW, I have long had Reminders enabled but not to be included in the current nor ending balances….only to be shown in the tab below the register. I made no changes to this Preference setting.

Also, I do not know if this issue still exists but at one time long ago having the Pending transactions Global setting set like this did not always apply to each individual account. Even though that Global setting was disabled I found that some accounts still showed Pending transactions in the register and in the current and ending balances. In these affected accounts I sometimes found this would cause there to be duplicate transactions in the register (one for the downloaded Pending transaction and one for the downloaded Posted transaction). But I do not recall if this caused the next Reminder being skipped. In the affected accounts I found that also disabling Pending transactions to be included in the current and ending balances at the account level (click on the hourglass below the register) resolved that issue.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Pending Transactions. Then you will be able to enable or disable pending transactions.
