Manual bill issue
Quicken appears to have a bug in scheduling a manual bill. Each month I schedule bills to be paid and the criteria I select for how often is only once and I also select the option to automatically enter the bill 0 days before the due date.
When the due date arrives, Quicken enters the bill as expected; however, the next day, the bill is listed in my bill reminders as overdue even though Quicken already entered the transaction. When I click on manage bills, the details of the bill indicate a how often as yearly even though I selected only once. I then have to select an option to delete this and all future occurrences.
I do this every month for every bill I set up this way. Is there any way Quicken can address this bug?
I schedule the bill only once because the amount changes each month; however, since the bill is automatically paid from my checking account on the due date, I set it up in Quicken to automatically enter it on the due date.

I schedule the bill only once because the amount changes each month;
You can schedule these bills (e.g., credit card payments, electricity bills, etc.) with variable amounts as recurring monthly with "Remind me [xx] days in advance" (where [xx] is any number of days greater than zero, e.g., [21] if you receive the statement 3 weeks before due date). When selecting to enter this reminder, simply update the amount for the new transaction.
For ease of budgeting or balance forecasting, you can define variable amounts in scheduled reminders by setting up "Estimate this amount for me" and setting it to "Previous [xx] payments" (where xx is a number of 1 - 12). The reminder will calculate an average amount of [xx] previous payments as an estimated amount.As far as the deleted reminder coming back to life is concerned, with incorrect settings …
Do you Sync to Mobile for use with the Quicken Mobile app on your smartphone or the Quicken on the Web browser-based companion app? Do you actually use any of these apps?0 -
I do not use either app. Just Quicken Classic Deluxe on a desktop. I can look into setting up variable bills as you suggest; however, it does appear Quicken has a bug where an "only once" transaction that is automatically entered by Quicken is being flagged by Quicken the next day as overdue and the how often is being automatically changed to "annually". Thank you for your insight.

There have been a few prior discussions about "only once reminders" creating errors in budget views, but I haven't found anything describing your exact issue.
If you can reproduce this error condition at will, it might be a good idea to contact Quicken Support on the phone during posted hours of operation and request help. Let them do a screen share session with you to review the situation on your computer, to determine the nature of the problem and to figure out how to fix it. This may need to be accepted as a bug and escalated to higher support levels and/or the programmers.
Until it can be fixed, using a recurring monthly reminder to schedule and record your variable payment amounts is the best method I can think of to avoid the problem and save yourself a lot of time and aggravation.
