Quicken Classic (Win11) - Password Vault ERASED, not deleted

Release 66.23 / Build 27.1.66.23

I woke up this morning to find that the overnight scheduled download had not appeared to have run, but instead discovered that there were no institutions available for download because my Password Vault had been erased (contained no entries at all). The vault wasn't deleted because the master vault password still worked fine. When I examined the account records they appeared to have been disconnected from all institutions (Chase and 1st Security).

The FIX seems to be to treat each of the accounts as if they had never been set up and create all the online information for each of them individually. Once that was done, all transactions were downloaded and the password vault once again appears as expected.

Why would the password vault get completely emptied (not deleted) and all online institutions be disconnected overnight?

Only downloads via Direct Connect use the password vault. Chase is via Express Web Connect(+) and there's too many FI's that start "1st Security" for me to identify which you use and their download method.

You can ID the download method by doing TOOLS, Account List and looking at the "Transaction Download" column next to the account name.

SO, you might not need the Password Vault at all.

Also, I've never heard of it being emptied unless TOOLS, Password Vault, "Reset Vault" was accidentally clicked.

Yes, I understand about Chase since the fairly recent changes. However, it was still in the Password Vault and was deleted at the same time as "First Security Bank of Searcy" (Arkansas). The Quicken account information for both of these financial institutions was apparently reset at the same time the Password Vault was erased. I say that because I had to "edit account details" and re-establish them both as online accounts.

P.S. - there is now a new option in the tools pulldown for the individual accounts labeled "Visit Financial Institution Homepage" which I haven't seen before.

The word Searcy doesn't appear anywhere in the FIDIR.TXT file that defines all of the FI connections to Q.

So, we still don't know what bank you're talking about.

Quicken defines it as "First Security Bank, AR" when I examine the account details screen. It is located in Searcy, Arkansas and has branches throughout the state.

That bank supports ONLY Express Web Connect, so again, the Vault isn't needed.

Why then does Quicken require me to enter a password for every connection to that bank? Rather than enter one each time, I store it in the Password Vault.
